Advanced Clinical Practitioners

In order to see as many patients as possible, Irwell Medical Practice currently has one Advanced Nurse Practitioner, a Advanced Clinical Practitioner, and 3 Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioners. They are experienced clinicians who have undergone higher level training in a variety of subjects. They see patients on a day to day basis like a GP would and are able to assess, diagnose, treat and refer in accordance with local policy and guidelines. They have or will have a prescribing qualification and are able to prescribe within their own clearly defined remit. ANP’s/ACP's are health promoters that bridge the gap between nurses and GP’s. They often have their own specialist areas and are able to improve access to the surgery. The ANP's/ACP's at Irwell Medical Practice are improving access with the GP’s to ensure that acutely unwell patients are seen quickly and by the appropriate person.
